yeah 2day finish exams liao!

n i realised smtg thru tis exam period...
e papers r damn tough. we r given a real short time of 2.5mths 2grasp those concepts n supposed 2apply (not jus vomit) those concepts in e exams in 2hrs. nw i knw y e jc students r e 1s who normally excel in uni... or at least can score betta. coz e jc system oso like tat. study 2yrs tk a major exam -- A levels.

i found out e reason y sm ppl like me cant score althou i understand e concepts. its coz i dun have enough time 2get use 2e format of questioning, answering n e terminologies.
i got 2knw tis when i met my lecturer cum tutor cum course coordinator for accounting this afternn. he asked me hw i felt abt his paper. i said it was manageable. he say he find it ok too. his tutors oso tink its reasonable. but apparently, 1of e tutors got an email fr a student saying tat he found e paper astonishing (meaning unbelievably tough). but frankly speaking, i find tat e paper rather easy if u reali understand n r familiar w e subject, which i am. so i believe e student's comment is not invalid.

tinkg back, tat was e onli paper i tot was ok. coz i familiar w it liao. so doing it was a breeze. in fact i took 45mins 2do half of it n realised i had much time, so slowed down 4e second half. it was e opposite 4e rest of e papers. all not enough time 2finish. rushg last min still cant finish. all e terms n phrases jus got lost in my brain smwhere.

so i tink nxt sem's gonna b tougher. coz more of those i not familiar w coming up. so needa change tactic oso... cant wait till study wk then read txtbk n do excercise. mus read n understand completely b4 doing tuts. then tuts = practice. so study wk wont b so bz n stressed up, squeezing time out 2clear all these doubts n findg e link between different chps.

another tg i found in e education system -- trains ppl 2work within ur limits. ppl simply get contented w scoring gd grades coz its a big hurdle 2get tat excellent result. so they get used 2jus doing their best for wat is given... best in e sense of e grading system expected fr tat standard of e task given. dun needa venture out n give smtg more.

since exams have fixed ans (even if they say its hw u explain), ppl r jus concerned w giving e right expected ans. no credit will b given 4innovative ans. so students got trained in2 timid ppl, scared of tryg new methods of getting e solution. tink tats y employers nwadays dun reali employ ppl w gd grades. coz they r onli gd in sch, in answering those type of qns. in real life, when problems arise n data dun come presented in tat qn format, they r lost.

overheard a story tat day on e bus. a guy who graduated w a normal biz degree found himself a job in a company called Aviva dealing in marketing (tink u all knw tis company). after working 4smtime, he was on a hunt 4interviews w other companies which can pay him betta. knwing this, Aviva gave him a pay rise to keep him. but after a few mths, he started his interview schedules again. this time he managed 2get a higher paying finance job in a bank. he worked for 2mths there n went back 2Aviva 1day 2negotiate 4a pay rise. surprisingly, Aviva not oli gave him a pay rise, but oso promoted him 2a manager. from pay of 2k to 5k. so this guy who was telling this story 2his fren deduced tat -- u jus need a normal degree 2get urself a reasonable paying job. whether u excel or hw fast u climb up e ladder depends on wat u do after tat (which has notg much 2do w a degree). so he set his current aim as 2graduate asap.

duno wat 2say in this case... but i tink 2ensure tat u r still at e top in 10-20yrs time, a degree is definitely not enough. jus like our parents. at their time when they r in their 20s, o levels is e norm. those who had A levels r like genius liao. but nw, degree is like a minimum. A levels ppl cant get a decent paying job, n no way of career advancements. can i say its wei yu chou mou? prepare 4use in future bah...
